Back To Wainaku

This beautiful setting was a wedding gig Soul Redemption played this October. It was in Wainaku, Hilo, Hawai’i, the neighborhood in which founding band members Moroni Naho’oikaika and Aaron Okura grew up. It was really nice to come back to our roots and play in our hometown again.

Photographer James Rubio took some great photos of the wedding including some of the band.

While we were on the Big Island we met kick-ass reggae producer Kaya, from HPP Studios and even got to record a song of ours with him. His many years of playing with some of the top reggae artists in the world has endowed him with vast knowledge and an amazing ear we plan on working with in the future. Any musicians in Hawai’i wanting to enhance their music and get a solid recording at reasonable rates should contact him.

While on O’ahu, Soul Redemption got to perform at a festival at BYU, Laie in front of over 500 students. There was an awesome positive response from the students. As soon as we started playing, crowds of people rushed the previously empty dance area in front of the stage. We made a lot of new fans and friends after performing and over 30 of them came to an impromptu after-party jam-session. It was a fun night and I hope to hang out with those cool people again.

This was Soul Redemption’s 3rd trip back to the islands. We’ll be back often to jam out for our local friends. Please leave a comment below. We’d love to hear from you.

  1. You guys rocked the wedding. All our friends and family from the mainland were dancing, and this was the first time they ever heard reggae! Thanks for such a wonderful job, it was a dream wedding.

Congrats on the reception at the BYU performance. Can’t wait to hear some of your future collaborations w/ Kaya & HPP Studios.
